Banding of Peregrine Falcon Chicks, Bloor-Islington Centre, June 15, 2023 (Images)

Image
We witnessed the banding of several peregrine falcon chicks in the lobby of an office building in the west end of Toronto. A scaffold carrying experts in the handling of these birds had to be carefully lowered to a ledge near the top of the building where the chicks were nesting. After the birds were collected, they were taken to a banding area on the ground floor. The Bloor-Islington Centre Peregrine falcon - Wikipedia Following are some of the images I was able to capture. A Walk in the Real West End (Etobicoke), June 14, 2023

I thought I'd be clever and sort my photos in reverse date order before uploading them (to get round a photo placement issue). The photos still  wound up in reverse chronological order. I've found a better way to assign descriptions to each photo, but for this post I'll keep the descriptions above the relevant photo. I keep forgetting about these tree branches and walk into them. I was pretty weary the evening before this walk and nearly got knocked on my posterior as a result of walking into them. This tree is located in our local park. On the Etobicoke Creek trail: On the Etobicoke Creek trail: Walking next to the Joe Benesh Pond (according to Google Maps): I can't crop out my thumb without losing most of that beautiful tree on the left (taken near Stone Bridge at Centennial Park): The Conservatory in Etobicoke's Centennial Park: The Conservatory in Etobicoke's Centennial Park: The Conservatory in Etobicoke's Centennial Park: The Conservatory in Etobicoke...

These photos were taken along Dundas Street West. Due to the way the blog software works, all photos are in reverse chronological order . Oops! I suppose I should crop out my thumb. Can't crop my thumb out, as I'd lose an important part of the image: Brockton Village Bakery: First photo. Taken at a bus stop on the property of Ossington subway station. I recognize the daycare across the street from a number of walks over the years:
